TRYON—The Gardening for Life Project recently announced it will host its Spring Native Plant Sale next month, an event dedicated to promoting the use of native plants in sustainable gardening and furthering the efforts to restore biodiversity in our region.
The plant sale will be held at the Harmon Field Outdoor Gym on Friday, March 28, from 3 to 7 p.m. Attendees will be able to purchase everything from perennial seedlings to small trees. All plants are native to our region.
“The timing could not be better as cooped-up gardeners long for the warmer weather and gentle spring rains in the Carolina Foothills,” said Anita Saulmon with the Gardening for Life Project Team.
The vendor list includes some of our area’s finest growers, including Saturnia Farms, Blue Oak Horticulture, Flower Moon Nursery, Milkweed Meadows, Tanager Plants, Sorrell’s Lawncare and Nursery, and Natural Selections Nursery.
“Please join us in supporting our native plant growers and educators, some of whom suffered great losses from the wrath of Tropical Storm Helene,” said Saulmon.
The sale takes place under cover, and this is a rain-or-shine event. Customers are encouraged to use cash as not all vendors can accept credit cards.
The Gardening for Life Project promotes sustainable gardening practices using native plants. By creating gardens that support local ecosystems, the project helps foster habitats for wildlife, including pollinators and birds.
