Free live cultural music event to take place Feb. 23

TRYON—On Friday, January 31, the Creators Vault hosted a dynamic group of youth to kick off Black History Month. The event introduced participants to the rich fabric of Black culture through engaging activities centered around cultural textile art. Participants created their own textile art pieces, deepening their understanding of the historical significance and artistic expression within the Black community. The gathering also included food and opportunities for fellowship.

The Creators Vault will also host a free live cultural music event on Sunday, February 23, at 3 p.m. This celebration will feature various songs highlighting the vibrancy of musical traditions integral to the Black experience. Visitors will be able to purchase art from a curated collection that features pieces reflecting the contributions of Black history-makers, enabling community members to support and appreciate their work.

To further celebrate Black History Month, Pea Ridge Partnership will conduct a guided riding tour on February 27 at 1 p.m. This informative tour will focus on the significance of Rosenwald schools and other historic landmarks that hold cultural importance in the African American narrative. The tour will meet at Pea Ridge Partnership, 31 (Amos Miller Lane, Rutherfordton, NC), where participants will embark on a journey to learn about the profound impact of these institutions on education and community building. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at www.pearidgepartnership.org.

“We invite the community to come out and participate in these enriching experiences that celebrate the heritage and contributions of Black culture,” said Pea Ridge Partnership’s Tanisha Akinloye. “Let us gather to learn, celebrate, and honor the history that shapes us all.”

Creators Vault is located at 25 S. Trade St. in downtown Tryon. For more information, contact Akinloye at (203) 767-9264.
