TRYON—The Tryon Riding and Hunt Club has announced that local students can apply for its 2025 college scholarships. Applications are due by May 15, with award recipients to be announced in June.

Scholarships are available to students in Polk, Henderson, Rutherfordton, Spartanburg, or Greenville counties. Both graduating high school seniors and current college students are encouraged to apply, although preference will be given to high school graduates.

The scholarship award amounts will vary, but recipients can anticipate receiving at least $500. TR&HC will prioritize students with connections to the equestrian industry or sport within the local community and those affiliated with recognized equestrian organizations. Financial need will also be a significant factor in the selection process.

To maintain fairness in the application process, individuals related to current members of the TR&HC Board of Directors or club employees are ineligible to apply. Recipients may be required to provide a financial need statement and participate in an interview. Additionally, winners must submit a photo, a media release, and confirmation of their school enrollment. The scholarship funds will be paid directly to the recipient’s educational institution. In some instances, scholarship recipients may also be asked to volunteer at a TR&HC event.

Building on the success of 2024, when $6,500 was awarded to deserving students, the club continues its proud tradition of supporting education and fostering community ties.

TR&HC 2024 scholarship recipients were Caroline Hall from Bostic, Victoria Reinholdt from Landrum,  Sarah Moorshead from Simpsonville, and Samantha Collins from Columbus.
