One dead, two injured after Sunday crash

 

SPARTANBURG COUNTY—On Sunday, February 9, a deadly collision was reported on Highway 9 near Melvin Hill Road in Spartanburg County. 

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, at approximately 1 p.m., a 2024 Chevrolet Trax was traveling north when it collided head-on with a 2010 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup truck. The driver of the pickup truck was ejected from the vehicle and succumbed to their injuries at the scene. 

The deceased was later identified as Sarah Shelle Russell, 37, of Chesnee.

The driver of the Trax and a passenger of the pickup truck were injured and were transferred by EMS to a local hospital. Their conditions were unknown as of press time.

The incident is currently under investigation, and a forensic exam was scheduled to take place on Monday, February 10.
