A decisive run spanning the first and second quarters propelled R-S Central to a 77-32 victory over Polk County in Mountain Foothills 7 Conference boys basketball action Friday at Polk.
After a 4-4 deadlock early in the contest, the Hilltoppers unleashed a 13-2 run that effectively turned the game’s momentum. Polk County’s Khristian Littlejohn briefly stemmed the tide with a basket to cut the deficit to 17-8, but R-S Central responded with seven unanswered points to maintain control.
The Hilltoppers’ dominance continued throughout the remainder of the game as they outscored Polk County in every quarter.
The Wolverines were led by Aaron Jackson with 11 points, followed by Khristian Littlejohn with eight, Jayce Edwards with six, Ross Dow with four and Khalil Austin adding three.
The loss drops Polk County to 3-15 overall and 1-8 in Mountain Foothills 7 Conference play, while R-S Central improves to 11-8 and 7-2 in conference.
The Wolverines will look to rebound in their final regular-season home game Friday when they host Chase.
