Tryon – William Grier Eargle, 61, of Tryon, NC, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, following a brief illness.

Grier was born in Charleston, SC, and was the son of the late Roy Eargle of Saluda, NC. He attended Berkeley School of Music in Boston, MA, and went on to culinary school and was the head chef at Hamilton’s restaurant in Alexander, VA. 

Grier moved to Saluda, NC in 1988. He then went into Real Estate and construction. Grier had a great eye for building, all you have to do is look along Main Street Saluda to see his beautiful work. Some of Grier’s passions were cooking, designing homes, music, developing property, the outdoors, and, of course, his family.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Ruchia Moran.

Surviving includes his mother, Dorothy Moffat Eargle, Saluda, NC; his beloved spouse of 20 years, Faith Ann Carlone Eargle, Tryon, NC; his daughters, Mary Shannon Eargle of Greenville, SC and Anneliese Eargle of Charlotte, NC; his son, Grier Eargle of Asheville, NC and his stepson, Alan Wright (Nicole) of Asheville, NC.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 8th, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Transfiguration Episcopal Church in Saluda, NC.
