Polk County played tough against Hendersonville on Tuesday, keeping the Bearcats within single digits late into the third quarter before the guests pulled away to an 81-49 win.
Hendersonville led 20-12 after a quarter and just 40-29 at the break. In the second quarter, especially, Polk County’s defense and the Wolverines’ transition offense against the Bearcats’ pressure allowed them to creep to within seven points on a couple of occasions.
They couldn’t get any closer, though, as the Bearcats closed the half with a small run to go up by 11. Hendersonville outscored Polk 18-10 in the third quarter to open a comfortable lead before pouring it on in the fourth and cruising to the victory.
Polk County’s Aaron Jackson led all scorers with 23 points. Khristian Littlejohn added nine for the Wolverines.
Martise Mills led Hendersonville with 22 points. Jordan Wynn scored 11, while Jaron Ward had 10.
