GREEN CREEK – Sarah Mazie Jackson Cantrell, 99, of Green Creek, went home to be with the Lord on Friday evening, January 24, 2025, at Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum.
Born in Panama City, Florida, she was the daughter of the late Lee Jackson and Nancy Cooper Jackson and wife of the late Raymond C. Cantrell, who passed away in 2011.
Mrs. Cantrell spent her adult life as a loving homemaker and mother. She was an avid gardener, having grown flowers and vegetables. In her later years, she loved watching the birds at the feeder.
Her gift was being a prayer warrior for her family and friends. Mornings were spent in scripture and prayer. Her passion was receiving and sending cards with detailed updates on what was going on with her. She was a dedicated member of Melvin Hill Church of the Brethren.
In addition to her parents and husband, She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Cantrell; three brothers, Hugh Jackson, Floyd Jackson and David Jackson; one sister, Hazel Holt.
Surviving are two sons, Tom Cantrell (Amy) and Jim Cantrell (Cheryl); one daughter, Marie Humphries (Jerry); seven grandchildren, Kevin Humphries, Keri Rozetar, Jason Cantrell, Richard Cantrell, Rebecca Cantrell, Bruce McCurry and Jason McCurry; six great-grandchildren, Bella Marie Rozetar, Wren Rozetar, Elijah Coffman, Jackson Cantrell, Isaiah McCurry and Tyler McCurry; two great-great-grandchildren, Kameron McCurry and Koa McCurry. Also surviving are a host of nieces and nephews.
The family held a private graveside service at Melvin Hill Church Cemetery.
