Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Following a short battle with sudden illness, Julie Perkins, 68, of Tryon, NC, passed away on January 13, 202,5 at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. She was born to Charlie and Elizabeth Narron on September 9, 1956, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Julie graduated from Madison High School in Mars Hill, NC, in 1974 and went on to study Social Work at Mars Hill College.

Julie was preceded in death by her former husband, Clyde R. Beaver, Jr. (father of her children), and her devoted partner and husband of 22 years, Ted Perkins (2018).

Julie is survived by her three children and five grandchildren, Carey Pace (Shawn) and their children, Nathan and Cora, Jim Beaver and his children, David, Isaiah and Samuel, and Dana Smith (Kevin), her parents, Charlie C. and Elizabeth Narron, and her two sisters, Vicki Warren and Cindi Ireland.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Julie. She was always in the company of a beloved pet and wholly devoted to them. She loved a quiet, peaceful evening at home with a view of the colors of nature, but also loved the ocean. A cup of coffee with lots of sugar and half and half was always near at hand. Julie was a skilled pianist who played by ear and filled her home with music and instruments, regularly delighting her young children with whimsical soundtracks for their antics. In later life, she enjoyed searching for interesting and rare antiques with her husband, Ted. She was passionate about sharing her faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ and devoted her time to encouraging others in their faith in Him for the last 15 years on social media.

Memorials may be made to the Foothills Humane Society, PO Box 985, Columbus, NC 28722.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 3, 2025, at McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, NC, with Dr. Chris Osborn officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home.
