GIRLS BASKETBALL: Wolverines rout Panthers, gear up for conference showdown

On  Friday, Polk County tuned up for a key Mountain Foothills 7 Conference showdown, overpowering Patton 47-18 in Morganton.

The Wolverines (15-1, 7-0) limited the Panthers (4-14, 1-6) to single-digit scoring in each quarter en route to the road win. Polk County built an early lead and never relented, maintaining their undefeated record in conference play.

Kylie Lewis led the Wolverines with 15 points and added nine rebounds. Kiera Littlejohn contributed 12 points and eight rebounds, while Bailey Staton scored 11 points and dished out four assists. Mia Bradley chipped in with nine points to round out the scoring for Polk.

The Wolverines were set to return home Tuesday to host Hendersonville in a highly anticipated matchup. The Bearcats are just a game behind Polk County in the MF7 standings and have won 12 straight games.
