Polk County swept most of the Western Highlands Conference’s top teams Saturday en route to winning the Patriot Duals at Madison High School.
The Wolverines won all four of the matches in Marshall, including a 42-34 victory over Avery in a matchup of two of the state’s top 10 1A programs. That match wasn’t decided until the final individual match, when Chester Wilson pinned Grasyon Lolies in the third period of the 215-pound match to secure the win. Wilson, who normally wrestles at 190 pounds, moved up a class to take on Lolies.
Polk also got a key decision at heavyweight to open the match, with Brady Carroll scoring a 3-2 win over Maverick Mora.
Polk clinched the Duals title with a 55-24 victory over Mountain Heritage. The Wolverines also defeated Draughn 70-10 and Smoky Mountain 48-26 while improving to 32-5 for the season.
The Wolverines were set to travel to Chase on Tuesday before hosting the Mountain Foothills 7 Conference Individual Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 25.
