COLUMBUS—On Thursday, January 23, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., the Columbus Presbyterian Church at 21 Peniel Rd will host a drive-thru Poor Man’s Supper Fundraiser, with proceeds benefiting their Building Fund.
This unique dining experience will feature a menu of pinto beans available with or without diced onions and/or homemade chow chow, home-fried potatoes, cole slaw, cornbread and banana pudding. Drinks will not be provided. Each plate will be available for $10.
Attendees are encouraged to pull into the church parking lot, where a volunteer will greet them. Guests will inform the volunteer how many plates they wish to order and whether they prefer onions or chow chow. After placing their order, they will be directed to the next station to make their payment before receiving their meals at the last stop.
“The funds will be going to help update our fellowship hall,” said Donna Ashley, the Pastor’s Assistant and Director of Christian Education. “We have a small space we feel could be an asset to the community. It just needs updating.”
The Poor Man’s Supper marks the first in a series of fundraising dinners planned for every third Thursday of the month, with an Old Fashioned Supper scheduled for next month. In addition, the church opens its doors every Sunday at 6 p.m. and Wednesday morning at 6 a.m. to provide meals to anyone who wishes to attend.
For more information or to pre-order plates, call the church at (828) 894-3368 or Donna at (828) 817-1198. Join the community for a delicious meal while supporting a meaningful cause.
