GREEN CREEK – Polk County Farms will host its Friends of Agriculture Breakfast on Wednesday, January 22, at the Green Creek Community Center, located at 25 Shields Drive in Tryon. The event will begin at 7 a.m. and is open to the public, offering a complimentary breakfast to attendees.

A long-standing tradition in the community, the monthly gathering has been held for 15 years and provides an opportunity for residents to meet neighbors, connect with local support agencies, and engage with efforts to preserve the area’s rural agricultural heritage.

This month’s breakfast will feature Nolynn Powell, director of the Clean Water Lab in Green Creek, as the guest speaker. Powell oversees a vital water and food safety testing program that safeguards local public health, offering services such as bacterial testing for water and pathogen testing for food.

In keeping with its focus on sustainability, attendees are encouraged to bring their own coffee mugs, plates, and utensils. This initiative helps reduce waste and fosters a sense of community among participants.

The Friends of Agriculture breakfast series is held on the third Wednesday of each month from September through May, with a variety of speakers and topics relevant to the agricultural sector. This month’s event is sponsored by Piney Knob Cabins of Rutherford County.
