Learn about habitat connectivity at upcoming presentation

MILL SPRING—Conserving Carolina will host a free lecture entitled “Wildlife Crossings, Corridors, and Connectivity for Conservation” at its next speaker series event. 

The lecture is presented by wildlife biologist Liz Hillard and will take place on Saturday, January 18, in the Anne Elizabeth Suratt Nature Center at the Walnut Creek Preserve at 10:30 a.m. 

The presentation will emphasize the importance of habitat connectivity in Western North Carolina, highlighting local efforts to provide wildlife safe passage across our roadways and discuss the challenges and opportunities in building back better, with wildlife in mind, after Tropical Storm Helene.

Hillard is Wildlands Network’s senior wildlife biologist for the Appalachian region, based in Asheville. She engages in wildlife conservation research and efforts in WNC to improve habitat connectivity and combat the negative impacts of habitat loss and fragmentation on our region’s biodiversity.
