POLK COUNTY—It’s a new year, and there are plenty of chances for Polk County residents to volunteer on county boards.
For instance, the Agricultural Advisory Board has three open spots. This board promotes agricultural values and the general welfare of the county, specifically increasing identity and pride in the agricultural community and its way of life. It also encourages agriculture’s economic and financial health and increases protection from non-farm development and other negative impacts on properly managed farms.
Some boards don’t currently have a need but will soon, like the Library Board of Trustees, which has several openings coming up this year. This board supports the mission of the Polk County Library by adopting library policies, acting as an advocate for and promoter of the library within the community, assisting the Library Director in monitoring and evaluating the library’s effectiveness as well as the development of a long-range plan, and providing advice and counsel as requested.
There are a lot of opportunities within the county. Visit onboard.polknc.org to learn about all the boards searching for volunteers.
