Tornado confirmed in Holly Springs area of Spartanburg County on Dec. 29

HOLLY SPRINGS—The National Weather Service confirmed that a tornado touched down in the Holly Springs area of Spartanburg County on Sunday, December 29. Holly Springs is roughly 20 minutes from Polk County and prompted a Tornado Warning in the area. 

The tornado, categorized as an EF-0, was recorded between 7:55 a.m. and 7:57 a.m. during a series of storms that swept through the area. According to NWS officials, it traveled approximately 1.7 miles and had a maximum width of 30 yards. 

The estimated peak winds reached 75 mph, causing significant damage, including uprooted trees and snapped limbs.

Residents in Holly Springs, an unincorporated area of Spartanburg County, experienced the storm’s impact firsthand. No injuries have been reported in connection with the tornado.
