Tryon, NC- Thurman Eugene Kuykendall, 77, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum, SC.
Born in Landrum, SC he was the son of Carl Bill and Ina Mae Benson Kuykendall. He spent the majority of his life in Tryon, North Carolina. For most of his career, he was employed as a truck driver for Henson’s Inc. until his retirement in 2009. He enjoyed playing pool and “piddling “ on projects at home. One of the things he enjoyed most was being able to help his neighbors. Thurman loved his dogs, Stumpy (deceased) and Axel. He also loved to take them on rides and was known by many people as “the man that rides around with his rottweiler”.
In addition to his parents, Thurman was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy McSwai,n and his brother, Carl Kuykendall.
Surviving is wife of 38 years, Ann Kuykendall, daughters, Barbie Kuykendall Rojas (Antonio) and Tonya Kuyendall Cannon; grandchildren Chase Cannon, Shelby Crouse (Stephen), Logan Rojas, Landon Rojas, and Cade Rojas; one brother, Joe Allen Kuykendall and three great-grandchildren, August Crouse, Elouise Crouse, and Nolan Crouse.
A memorial will be held at 4:00 on Sunday, January 5, 202, officiated by Pastor Bill Kuykendall.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
