Tornado warning issued early Sunday

POLK COUNTY—A tornado watch issued for Polk and surrounding counties is in place until 1 p.m. on Sunday. A tornado warning was issued by the National Weather Service Sunday morning from 8:15 to 8:45 a.m. as severe storms made their way through the area.

Hundreds of residents were without power Sunday morning. As of 9 a.m., 931 outages were reported by REMC in Polk County, and 300 Duke Power customers were reported.

Residents should use caution if traveling and monitor weather conditions throughout the day. The Bulletin will report any further alerts issued by the National Weather Service.
