MILL SPRING– On Saturday, December 14, the Sunny View Clubhouse celebrated its 14th Annual Christmas House, drawing together the local community to spread holiday cheer and support those in need.

The event was made possible by the generous financial support of the Polk County Community Foundation which enabled the Clubhouse to enhance the celebration with canopies and decorations for a larger-than-ever attendee turnout.

Families attending the Christmas House enjoyed a festive assortment of food and beverages, and were given gift certificates to McGuinn’s store, helping them purchase much-needed food or fuel while bolstering local business.

One of the stand-out stories of the event came from the Nay family, who traveled from Huntsville, Alabama, to support children affected by Tropical Storm Helene

The Nays collaborated with their 25 grandchildren to redirect the funds they would typically spend on gifts for their own family towards purchasing toys for local kids in need. Their grandchildren even joined them on shopping trips, choosing toys to help bring joy to others.

During their journey, the Nays made a brief stop in Murphy, where they encountered Becky, a local artist known for her stunning granite artwork. Upon learning of the Nay family’s mission, Becky gifted a piece of her artwork to be transported back to the community.

Before departing, the Nay family prayed for the Clubhouse, the children, and the community, sharing heartfelt stories and pictures of their family’s participation in the charitable effort.

The 14th Annual Christmas House not only succeeded in providing essential support and joy to families in the area but also highlighted the remarkable spirit of community and generosity that defines Sunny View. The dedication and compassion of individuals like the Nay family and the support of local artists and businesses continue to brighten the holiday season for many.

The Sunny View Clubhouse remains a welcoming venue for community gatherings, including wedding receptions, baby showers, reunions, and seasonal events like their Annual Spring Breakfast, Trick or Treat, Veteran’s Breakfast, Thanksgiving Meal, and, of course, the beloved Christmas House.
