Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

TRYON—The Tryon Downtown Development Association has successfully wrapped up its annual Holiday Silent Auction, raising an impressive $3,260 for the Uplighting Tryon project to enhance the ambiance of Trade Street.

From November 30 to December 11, the auction featured items donated by various local businesses, including Tryon Coffeehouse, KD’s Sea Shack, Katie D’s Deli, and many more.

“This event was a fantastic collaborative effort,” said Lourdes Gutierrez, executive director of TDDA. “We want to thank the businesses that participated and donated. Each of these businesses hosted items for the auction, contributing to a collective goal of beautifying our downtown area.”

Among the auction highlights was an Ugly Sweater Party held at Mirrorball Gallery on December 11 to encourage bids and foster community spirit. Owner Alex Page reported that the event attracted around 150 patrons from as far away as Charlotte and Greenville. Notable donations included a private dinner for ten with Chef Sharone, valued at $2,500, and an exclusive piece of art and a candle valued at $350, both sold during the event.

The TDDA is also hosting a Holiday Window Contest for downtown businesses. Photographer Carri Bass will capture images of the festive shop windows this week, with a voting period set to occur via TDDA’s Facebook page until December 30. The window that garners the most likes and loves will win a quarter-page advertisement in The Laurel of Asheville, generously donated to the winning business.
