LYNN—The Town of Tryon issued a boil water notice over the weekend after a main water line broke in front of the Lynn Post Office.

On December 14, the town notified city water customers that the line was broken and that low water pressure was expected until repairs were made. In a later release, the town said water customers in the Lynn area should boil all water used for human consumption or use bottled water until the notice is lifted.

The release stated that water should be boiled vigorously for one minute before consumption, including water used to make ice, brush teeth, wash dishes, or prepare food. This should kill any disease-causing organisms potentially present in the water due to the broken water line.

Officials also say that customers should conserve water as much as possible.

The water line was repaired by Saturday evening. The advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
