Hendersonville showed Friday why it is the favorite to win the Mountain Foothills 7 Conference this season, racing to a 79-29 victory over Polk County in Hendersonville.
The Bearcats (5-0, 2-0) opened a 28-9 advantage at the end of the first quarter, hitting five 3-pointers, and were never threatened en route to the home win despite playing without leading scorer Malachi Simpson.
Martiste Mills scored 16 points, and JaRon Ward added 15 to lead the Bearcats.
Aaron Jackson had 12 points to pace Polk County, with Khristian Littlejohn adding 10. Gunnar Alm finished with five points and David Duffy added two.
