New hotel features 96 rooms, meeting and media rooms
MILL SPRING—On November 21, the Overmountain Lodge Hotel & Conference Center officially opened at the Tryon International Equestrian Center. The new hotel features 96 rooms, a state-of-the-art meeting room, and a media room for focused work presentations. Visitors will soon be able to dine at a new restaurant on the third floor, Gertie Mae’s, featuring an extensive selection of fine wines.
TIEC Director of Lodging Operations Richard Lundy expressed his excitement for the opening. “We are thrilled to welcome guests to Overmountain Lodge, a vision we have developed over many years to enhance the lodging options at TIEC,” he said.
Upon arrival, guests are welcomed into a grand lobby that exudes warmth with its rich wood paneling, plush seating, and an inviting stone fireplace. The lodge’s rooms are designed to impress, featuring breathtaking views of the mountains, high-end amenities, and cozy bedding that promises a restful night’s sleep.
What distinguishes the Overmountain Lodge is its commitment to becoming a community hub, catering to visitors and locals.
“We want this to be the preferred destination for families, whether they are here for equestrian events, business meetings, or a well-deserved getaway,” Lundy said.
The lodge’s construction involved innovative modular building techniques developed by BUILDZ, located a few exits away in Rutherford County. This pioneering approach contributed to a swift yet quality build process.
Beyond its luxurious accommodations, the lodge demonstrated its dedication to community support after Hurricane Helene. It opened its doors to first responders from all over the country in need of shelter, filling rooms before ever opening.
Overmountain Lodge plans to enhance its community engagement as the seasons progress by hosting outdoor concerts, movie nights on the lawn, and other events that further solidify its role as a welcoming gathering place. It also offers a discount for locals, along with other special packages.
