Opening reception to be held on Feb. 1
TRYON—Tryon Fine Arts Center has announced its annual Showcase of Excellence in 2025, featuring the exceptional artistic talent of high school students in our area.
As a juried fine arts competition, this event offers young artists their first taste of a professional gallery environment. Local high school teachers in North and South Carolina and qualified homeschoolers are invited to submit their students’ best work in painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, printmaking, and photography/digital media.
First Prize and Best in Show students will receive cash prizes to encourage their artistic pursuits. Winning teachers will also receive a cash prize from Tryon Fine Arts Center to use for classroom projects. These prizes are made possible by generous donors to TFAC’s Arts, Education, and Outreach programs and through support from the NC Arts Council and the Duke Energy Foundation.
Teachers must deliver their students’ artwork to the TFAC Pavilion between 3 and 5 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, or Friday, January 17.
The 2025 Showcase of Excellence will be on exhibit in the JP Gallery at TFAC from February 1 to February 28. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, February 1, from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Pavilion and JP Gallery.
Registration and rules for the 2025 Showcase of Excellence can be found at tryonarts.org/showcase-of-excellence. For more information, contact TFAC at (828) 859-8322.
