Polk County senior Morgan Yoder and head volleyball coach Molly Hill have been named the state’s top 1A player and coach by the North Carolina Volleyball Coaches Association.
Yoder was named the 1A Player of the Year after leading the Wolverines to their second straight state championship. She was MVP of the state final and Mountain Foothills 7 Conference Offensive Player of the Year, recording 247 kills and hitting at a .436 percentage. She had double-digit kills in Polk’s final five playoff matches, including 16 in the championship win over Perquimans.
Yoder recently signed a letter-of-intent to continue her career at Mars Hill College.
Hill led Polk County to its third state final in seven seasons and its second straight championship. She has a 215-63 record in 11 seasons at Polk, including seven 20-win seasons. The Wolverines finished a combined 50-6 the past two seasons, with five of those six losses to teams that also won state championships that same year (Brevard in 2023 and West Henderson in 2024).
West Henderson’s Emma Bryson was named the 3A Player of the Year.
