LANDRUM—On November 1, Steps to Hope held its annual Hope Golf Classic tournament at Links O’Tryon. The weather was overcast for most of the day, but that didn’t deter the great attitudes of the many golfers who showed up to have fun and support a great cause.

Steps to Hope, the local agency serving survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, said that it greatly appreciates the overwhelming support shown by golfers, individuals and area businesses who not only offered financial support but made countless donations in the form of snacks, drinks, door prizes, breakfast biscuits and swag for “golfer goodie bags.”

The overall winners of the tournament were Pete Gutowski, Chip Vogel, Craig Hardee, and Cornell Sweeny. The Low Gross Winners were Ethan Waldman, Travis Aldred, Brian Jones, and Craig Gillie, and the Women’s Team winners were Rubi Jorgensen, Diane Romer, Robin Barker, and Karen Starbuck.

“While no one was lucky enough to win the Hole-In-One or the Putting Contest this year, Dana Oldham was very close!” said Steps to Hope Executive Director Diane Nelson.

Hare and Hound provided a wonderful lunch, and everyone had a great time, organizers said.

“We could never have done it without the help of our amazing volunteers (you know who you are), who helped us ensure another successful charity event,” said Nelson. “Thank you to all.”
