TRYON—Tryon Concert Association will present pianist Avery Gagliano for the belated opening concert of its 2024-2025 season. The concert will take place on November 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Tryon Fine Arts Center.

Avery Gagliano is “a distinctive young talent…who has graduated to the big league of professional pianists” (International Piano Magazine). She won the First Prize and Best Concerto Prize at the 2020 National Chopin Piano Competition, the Audience Prize at the 2019 Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition, and the Aspen Music Festival Concerto Competition. World-renowned pianist András Schiff invited Gagliano to participate in his Building Bridges concert series in Europe.

After her Carnegie Hall debut at age 20, Gagliano has appeared in distinguished venues in Europe and the United States, including Luxembourg Philharmonie, Ehrbal Saal in Vienna, La Grange au Lac in Évian, and at Miami’s International Piano Festival. Her American solo performances include Louisville, Maryland, Aspen, New York, and now Tryon.

Gagliano is noted for her emotional depth and exquisite voicing. She has become a favorite of audiences and is especially noted for her “revelatory” (New York Classical Review) treatment of Chopin.

The program for this concert will begin with J. S. Bach’s French Suite No. 4 in E-flat and then proceed to Robert Schumann’s Novelletten, Op. 21. After intermission,  Gagliano will play an all-Chopin series: Nocturne in E-flat major, Op. 55, No.2; four Mazurkas, Op. 30; and Sonata No. 3 in B minor, Op. 58.

Concertgoers will enjoy a pre-concert reception sponsored by the Foundation for St. Luke’s Hospital. This is always a welcome event with catered goodies and a cash bar. TCA is grateful to the Foundation for its generosity and hospitality.
