Huskey delivers dominant showing at MF7 cross country championship

Karsyn Huskey delivered an emphatic message Wednesday to the rest of the Mountain Foothills 7 Conference.

Huskey dominated the field in the conference championship meet in Brevard, setting a personal-best time while finishing more than a minute ahead of the next closest challenger.

Huskey won the conference title with a time of 19:32.44, giving the Wolverines their first individual conference champion since Olivia Overholt led the Western Highlands Conference meet in 2019.

Polk County finished third in the girls standings, with Brevard winning the MF7 title and Hendersonville taking second.

The Wolverine boys finished fifth, led by Davis Young’s ninth-place effort.

For the Polk girls, Khloe Kitchen raced to a 22nd-place showing with a time of 26:06.88, with Carmen Diez-Grande taking 24th in a tme of 26:38.22. Emily-Charlie Keller followed in 34th at 28:16.22, withKendra Kitchen just behind in 36th at 28:51.34.

Emma Blomeley placed 45th at 32:21.94.

For the Wolverine boys, Liam Jackson took 12th with a time of 18:38.00. Dean Holland followed in 19th at 20:18.69, with Ethan Jenne finishing 37th in 22:09.68. Jayvin Clark rounded out the Polk scoring in 41st at 23:09.02.

Austin Shipman finished 49th in 24:41.48, with Max Butterfield in 55th at 27:09.45.

Brevard also won the boys conference title, taking five of the top six individual spots. Patton, Chase and Hendersonville rounded out the top four.
