MILL SPRING—Operations at the Tryon International Equestrian Center will continue to provide supplies for local families and help move supplies into other affected areas this week, the organization shared Monday.

“By our best estimates, more than 5,588 individuals have received items from the distribution center from October 3 through October 6, and still many other bulk loads of supplies have been sent to various western N.C. communities,” said Tryon Equestrian Properties President Sharon Decker.

Beginning Tuesday, the distribution center will be open from 12 to 4 p.m. daily through October 13. At that time, TIEC will assess future plans. TIEC no longer needs donations of human supplies; however, it is still receiving shavings, temporary/wire fencing, hay, and animal feed.

Free supplies for humans, pets, and livestock are available to anyone who needs them. This distribution center will operate as a drive-through, staffed with volunteers and Tryon International team members, as part of the Polk County network of disaster relief locations. Follow signs for drive-through pick-up.

World Central Kitchen and Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ will provide free hot meals from 12 to 4 p.m. daily near the TIEC main entrance. Hot meals will also be distributed throughout the community, and organizers anticipate that this will continue throughout the week.

Foothills Village Chapel is available for prayer and meditation at Cabin 2A on Tryon International’s Retail Promenade. It is open 24/7 and offers a “Come as you are” service each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and a “Friends of Bill” meeting each Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.

Limited showers and laundry facilities are also available at the Lodging Office building.

The Supply Distribution Center is located at Tryon International Indoor Complex, 2676 John Shehan Rd., in Mill Spring.
