Residents of a neighborhood just north of Tryon are being asked to evacuate due to a mudslide and flooding that washed out the entrance.

Tryon Fire Chief Josh Walton said a mudslide at the top of Meadowlark Drive has caused officials to ask residents there to evacuate.

Walton also said the entrance to the road was also washed out, causing more concern for the residents’ safety.
