POLK COUNTY—For the first after-school session this fall with Polk County school students, staff from Champions for Wildlife taught a lesson all about owls.
Students learned the four species of owls that live in this region, heard what each owl sounds like, what they eat, where they live and what makes them unique. Students then had the opportunity to dissect owl pellets, which are the regurgitated bits of prey that owls cannot digest.
For the art portion of the owl program, students made a paper plate owl craft where they were able to use their creativity to decorate their very own owl to take home.
