VOLLEYBALL: Polk drops first set, but rebounds to top Patton

Polk County rebounded Thursday from an opening-set loss to hand Patton a 3-1 defeat in a Mountain Foothills 7 Conference volleyball match in Morganton.

Kicking off the second half of their conference schedule, the Wolverines (11-3, 6-1) earned a 22-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-22 victory over the Panthers (12-4, 4-3).

Morgan Yoder delivered a double-double with 12 kills and 13 digs, with Mia Bradley doing the same with 11 kills and 16 digs. Akeela Cunningham had seven kills and nine digs, with Kylie Lewis adding five kills and four digs.

Charley Dusenbury had 20 assists and nine digs, with Aslyn Scruggs recording 13 assists and seven digs.

Hayden Blackwell had 14 digs, with Junie Mitchell serving four aces and Naomi Martinez and Scruggs each adding three.

Polk County returns home Tuesday to face Hendersonville in conference play.
