Polk County Youth Football and Cheerleading’s Mite cheerleaders are heading to championship competition.

The Mites, comprised of nine and 10-year-olds, placed fourth in the WNC Youth Football and Cheer East Division competition, held Saturday at Owen High School. That effort earned the Polk County squad a berth in the all-division championship event, set for September 22 at A.C. Reynolds High School.

Polk’s Termites (7 and 8-year-olds) also competed in Saturday’s event.
