TRYON—The Gardening for Life Project is hosting its fall Native Plant Sale this Friday. The event promotes the use of native plants in sustainable gardening and Habitatscaping and is happening at the perfect time to get those plants in the ground as temperatures cool and rainfall hopefully increases, allowing plants to establish a root system over the winter.
The sale will take place on September 20, from 3 to 7 p.m., at the Harmon Field Outdoor Gym, located at 117 Harmon Field Road in Tryon.
Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase a wide variety of native shrubs, perennials, grasses and small trees from some of the region’s finest growers including Milkweed Meadows Farm, Blue Oak Horticulture, Saturnia Farms, Flower Moon Nursery, Joe Pye Ecological Consulting and Nursery, Byrd House Natives, MR Gardens, Tanager Plants and Sorrell’s Lawncare and Nursery.
In addition to the vendors, exhibitors include Conserving Carolina, The Kudzu Warriors and The Congregational Church (UCC) in Tryon.
The Gardening for Life Project helps foster habitats for wildlife, including pollinators and birds, by creating gardens that support local ecosystems.
