Weekend festivities to include car show, ice cream social and more
TRYON—The Tryon History Museum is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, marking a decade of intensive efforts to preserve and highlight Tryon’s long and storied history.
Founded in 2014, the museum aims to catalog, showcase, and learn from Tryon’s past, be it artistry, industry, or society. The museum’s collection gives all the figures and organizations that have shaped Tryon’s evolution through the decades a new day and a new spotlight.
In appreciation of Tryon’s community, on whom the museum depends for patronage, Tryon History Museum is throwing a weekend-long celebration starting Thursday, September 26, and culminating on Sunday, September 29. Throughout the four days, the museum will curate numerous activities to expand our understanding of Tryon’s history and increase our appreciation of the present-day Tryon.
This anniversary celebration is intended to appeal to Tryon citizens of all ages, with activities for young and old alike, including a car show, free movie, barbershop quartet, and an ice cream social.
Certain functions within the weekend (such as a “happy” hour) are intended for strictly adults, but such events are marked on the brochures and other calendars for the weekend.
Visit the Tryon History Museum in person or online at tryonhistorymuseum.org to access schedules and itineraries for the celebration. Tryon History Museum is located at 26 Maple St.
