LANDRUM—The area recently welcomed CrossFit Krypton Carolinas, the newest fitness facility in Landrum. Located at 20101 Asheville Highway, it was spearheaded by Dane and Emily Smith.

Smith’s family has deep roots in CrossFit. They own and operate a gym in Chesapeake, Va., and in 2015, Dane’s brother Ben won the CrossFit Games. Dane and Emily are now poised to share their extensive experience and commitment to fitness with the local community.

Dane, who also serves as a part-time firefighter at the Tryon and Landrum stations, emphasizes the positive impacts of exercise on longevity and day-to-day wellness.

“It’s intimidating for some people,” says Smith. “But in my opinion, it is the least intimidating environment to walk into, my favorite people I’ve worked with. I’ve had an 80-year-old whose goal was to walk without a cane. He worked with me for a couple of months and was able to achieve his goals.”

The gym, situated near the state line, is geared to become a destination for fitness enthusiasts in the region. Carolina Krypton’s focus on creating a family-friendly environment and drawing from their extensive experience sets the stage for CrossFit Krypton Carolinas to become a warm and welcoming workout facility in the area.

CrossFit exercise has grown in popularity over the last twenty years. It is an alternative form of exercise that can bring many benefits, from physical strength to increased cardio, flexibility, and the ability to manage weight.

“At Crossfit, the methodology is going to be different every time,” says Smith. “The programming is varied but not random, so we are always moving toward a goal.”

CrossFit Krypton Carolinas opened on September 3. For more information, the class schedule, and operating hours, visit their website at crossfitkryptoncarolinas.com.
