TRYON—Tryon Presbyterian Church music director and organist Scott F. Foppiano will present a unique program of outstanding music at 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 22.

Despite the day, the program is titled, “Never on Sunday; Not Your Grandma’s Organ Recital!”

“The program will include something musical for everyone, including transcriptions, operetta, overtures, marches, and ballads, the kind of organ concert presented to vast municipal audiences a century ago,” Foppiano said. “Music by Clark, Chopin, St. Säens, Massenet, Gounod, Mendelssohn and Gilbert and Sullivan will be included.”

The public is invited to enjoy “a delightful afternoon of music on the King of Instruments,” he added.

Foppiano only began his tenure a few weeks ago, but his command of the Moller organ, with 19 ranks of pipes and 33 digital ranks, has impressed the Tryon Presbyterian congregation on Sunday mornings. It is eager to let music lovers throughout Tryon and vicinity hear it played by a talented and experienced performer.

The concert is free, although an offering will be accepted to benefit the church’s organ and music funds. A reception will follow the concert. The church is located at 430 Harmon Field Road.
