SALUDA—At the next Saluda Art Stroll, Heartwood Gallery will host a local woodturner at their popular “Meet the Artist” event.
Mark Gardner of Saluda uses locally sourced hardwoods from Western North Carolina to create unique and decorable tableware. Finished with food-safe walnut oil and beeswax, each dish is great for serving and eating. Each piece of dinnerware is textured and coated with a durable milk paint finish to make each dish different from the last.
From 4 to 6 p.m., Gardner will give a live demonstration of how his work is created and showcase some of his favorite pieces. During this time, Gardner will be available for meet-and-greets and will discuss his work.
The Saluda Art Stroll takes place on the second Saturday of each month. Attendees stroll through downtown Saluda and visit the many shops and studios it has to offer. Various forms of art will be showcased at each visit, and some shops and studios will offer light refreshments.
The upcoming Saluda Art Stroll, sponsored by the newly formed Saluda Art Alliance, will take place on Saturday, September 14, from 4 to 6 p.m. in downtown Saluda.
