TRYON—In recent weeks, Tryon has come together to revitalize the Morris the Horse and the downtown area around the clock tower. Located in the heart of town, Morris has received some exciting new features around its base to enhance the experience for locals and visitors alike.
Notable improvements include the addition of new slabs of stone for individuals to stand on, providing a better vantage point for capturing photos. New color-changing uplighting has been installed around the base, designed to showcase Morris in a new light, particularly at night, while remaining environmentally friendly.
The Tryon Garden Club was pivotal in funding the stonework and installation process. Skip and Denny Crowe personally oversaw the stone selection from Hipp Stone, ensuring that it was properly placed to serve as an optimal platform for picture-taking with Morris.
Plans are underway to introduce new plantings around Morris later in the fall, with the assistance of the Gardening for Life project and Green Blades Garden Club. Men Without Jobs and Tim Daniels also successfully installed new uplighting around the town’s beloved mascot.
