TRYON – Richard “Rick” Wright Dunn, Jr., 75, of Tryon, passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 27, 2024, at his home after a period of declining health. 

Born in Charlotte, NC, and raised in Spartanburg, SC, Rick was the son of the late Richard Wright Dunn, Sr. and Billie Hasty Dunn. Rick was a graduate of Limestone University and served honorably in the Army National Guard. He was the owner of Rick Dunn’s Painting & Remodeling for 45 years. A Tryon devotee, Rick was widely respected as a history enthusiast and astute collector. Surviving are two brothers, Dan Dunn (Fran) of Spartanburg and Bill Dunn (Sue) of Clemson.  

Left to cherish his memory are nieces and nephews, Brie Dunn (Trae Judy), Carrington Dunn (Lindsey), and Brooks Dunn; great-niece Ellison Judy; and great-nephews Christian and Ashton Dunn. 

A celebration of Rick’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 1, 2024, in the McFarland Funeral Chapel with Reverend John Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral chapel.
