TRYON—Tryon Little Theater will hold a New Volunteer Open House on Saturday, September 7, at the TLT Workshop. The event, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., aims to attract volunteers interested in set building or backstage crew work.

The open house will provide an opportunity for anyone skilled with a hammer, drill, or paintbrush to explore the behind-the-scenes aspects of theater production.

Lindsey Moore, a set designer with 19 years of experience and 53 shows to her credit, along with members of TLT’s volunteer team, will discuss the various elements of staging a show. Topics will include set design and construction, shop safety, painting techniques, costumes, and show promotion.

“TLT values our volunteers and community partners — we couldn’t do it without them,” said Monica Jones of Tryon Little Theater. “We promote teamwork and cooperation, all while having fun sharing talents and interests. Our set crew typically meets at the TLT Workshop every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon, and occasionally on Saturdays before a show opens.”

A light lunch will be provided at the free event. Afterward, participants are welcome to join the Set Crew Team as they work on the set for “Trailer Park Musical,” an upcoming production running at the Trade Street Workshop from Sept. 19-22 and Sept. 26-29.

Tryon Little Theater presents comedies, musicals, and dramas at the TLT Trade Street Workshop and the Tryon Fine Arts Center.

The TLT Workshop is located at 516 South Trade St., Tryon. For more information, contact Tryon Little Theater at (828) 859-2466 or visit tltinfo.org.
