Five dancers and three instructors from Dance Dynamics in Tryon recently visited New York City. They saw many famous landmarks, took dance classes at Broadway Dance Center, and attended two Broadway shows.
The trip included visits to the Empire State Building, a cruise to the Statue of Liberty, a stop by the World Trade Center Memorial, a walk through Central Park, and shopping and dining in Times Square. The group shopped at the Disney Store and the M&M Store and ate at The Pink Taco and Juniors, which is famous for its New York-style Cheesecake, which everyone had to try.
The classes at Broadway Dance Center were highlights of the trip. The group enjoyed a ballet class, tap class, jazz funk class, and a contemporary class. The group saw Aladdin and was mesmerized by The Outsiders. They also got to meet and get autographs with the cast. It was obvious why this show won so many Tony Awards. The choreography was spectacular and was enjoyed by the dancing group. The group traveled by plane, bus, subway, and boat and enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the city, but all were in agreement that they were excited to get back to the quiet small towns here and, of course, the mountains.
The dancers attending were Aleigha Blackwell, Zoey Conner, Lindsey Dotson, Jasmine Keele, and Reese Owens. They were accompanied by instructors Josh Borges, Missy Fincher, and Joy Shanahan. It was a wonderful learning experience and lots of fun.
