Polk County 4-H announces Fall classes

COLUMBUS—Polk County 4-H recently announced that registration will begin for its latest Fall programs on August 26. The organization offers classes year-round at the Polk County Center of the NC Co-Op Extension, located at 79 Carmel Lane.
The Polk County 4-H program is a series of educational opportunities designed to teach youth essential life skills while still having fun. Participants must have a 4-H online account to register for the programs.
The 4-H Cloverbud program for ages 5-8 teaches young children to work in a group, explore the world around them hands-on, and learn communication, decision-making, and communication skills. The once-a-month program costs $10 and will take place on September 10, October 8, November 12 and December 10.
The Cooking Class is for ages 9 and up. It will take the children on a culinary journey and teach them kitchen skills. The once-a-month class costs $12 and will take place on September 19, October 17, November 12 and December 19.
The Teen Council, for ages 12-18, teaches teenagers to unlock their leadership potential and better help their communities through volunteer and civic engagement activities.The Council meets once a month and is free to join. It will take place on September 12, October 11, November 7, and December 12.
