Hogback Mountain Day will be drawing crowds to North Trade Ave. with a plethora of family fun and activities throughout the day, including arts and crafts, vendors, live music and more. The event, originally created in the 1980s as a fundraiser for Landrum Library, gives attendees a chance to come together for a day of play while sharing community pride.

After a multi-decade hiatus, the Landrum Business Association and the late Spartanburg County Judge Jimmy Ashmore teamed up to initiate the return of Hogback Mountain Day in recent years, and it has grown into an event that is well-loved in the area.

“It’s a wonderful event for our community that shares our hometown heritage and another reason to fall in love with Landrum,” said City of Landrum Public Relations and Marketing Director Tricia Taber.

Kicking the day off at 8 a.m., the Landrum Farmers Market, located at 221 West Rutherford St., will open its doors to the public and will be offering a variety of produce and other goods to purchase.

The family fun will ensue on North Trade Ave. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with Mountain Market Vendors set up to offer food, beverages, and souvenirs. Activities for children will be set up as well, featuring face paintings, balloons, games and other fun that the whole family can enjoy. A blood drive will also take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Zuber’s Petting Zoo will be set up, giving visitors an opportunity to get up close and personal with a number of friendly critters. Additionally, The Well Church’s Summer Sizzle Celebration will take place from 2  to 6 p.m. with free food, carnival rides, bounce houses and games.

Hogback Mountain Day will conclude with Music at the Market featuring the Weatherman Band with Jack Roper beginning at 7 p.m. at the Farmers Market Pavilion.

Those interested in participating as a vendor at the event should contact Taber by email at tricia.taber@cityoflandrumsc.com.
