TRYON—Tryon Arts and Crafts School is inviting artists and collectors to participate in a special exhibit that will run alongside its upcoming Bayard Wootten photography exhibition from August 24 to October 18.
TACS is seeking original photographs from local artists that capture the essence of the extended Polk County region. This is a unique opportunity for photographers to showcase their work alongside the images of Bayard Wootten, one of North Carolina’s most celebrated photographers.
Additionally, TACS is calling on collectors to share photographs of historical significance to the Polk County area. These contributions can help to paint a fuller picture of our region’s rich heritage, creating a visual dialogue between past and present.
All submissions, whether original pieces or historical photos, must be physical prints. Entries must be either framed or matted in protective sleeves and ready to hang. Submissions should be delivered to TACS by 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 16.
The Bayard Wootten exhibition will highlight her remarkable photography of the western Carolina mountains, with a special focus on Tryon. It will feature newly printed works from her original negatives, many of which have never been displayed before. This exhibit will be the largest-ever gathering of Wootten’s work, offering a rare glimpse into her connection to our region.
On August 23, an opening reception will feature a spread of North Carolina’s favorite foods and offer a first look at both exhibits. In September and October, additional lectures on Wootten’s work and her contributions to photography will also be offered.
