Polk County Schools students will once again be able to enjoy free breakfast and lunch during the 2024-25 school year.
At its regularly scheduled monthly meeting in May, the Polk County Board of Education voted to continue participation in the Community Eligibility Provision of the National School Lunch program. The district also took part in the program during the 2023-24 academic year.
Taking part in the CEP option provides the majority of funding for the free meals. Polk County Schools must still provide a substantial amount of funding, and the district would welcome any local business or individual that would like to contribute to the effort. Anyone interested in providing a donation may contact Superintendent Aaron Greene at 828-894-3051.
Menus can be accessed each week on the Child Nutrition website.
