Musical to play at Tryon Little Theater for two weekends in September
TRYON—Tryon Little Theater’s season opener is “The Great American Trailer Park Musical,” written by Betsy Kelso and featuring music and lyrics by David Nehls. The action takes place in Armadillo Acres, a North Florida trailer park in a town called Starke. Scott Waddell, in collaboration with Pam McNeil, is directing the show.
A small cast of outstanding actors has been assembled – all of whom you’ve seen before on the TLT stage – but never in these scintillating roles. Playing the part of Jeannie is Holly Shockley, and her husband Norbert is portrayed by Sam Craig. Betty is Lori Corda, Lin is Hillary MacArthur, and Liam Daniels plays Duke. Maggie Carter is Pickles, and Brenda Craig plays Pippi (did we mention she’s a professional stripper and pole dancer?).
Director Waddell describes the show as a fun-loving musical depicting a humorous look at trailer park life. “It’s really a hilarious recipe of redneck humor set to great music,” he says, “so get your tickets early!”
“The Great American Trailer Park Musical” will play for two weekends, September 19-22 and September 26-29, at the TLT Workshop Theater. Tickets are on sale for $30 and for $15 for those under 18. To buy tickets, call the box office at (828) 859-2466 or visit www.tltinfo.org.
