Saluda Elementary School teacher Stephanie Uhrich has received the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching’s Susan S. McHugh Honored Educator Scholarship for the 2024-25 academic year.
The McHugh Scholarship, funded by the Stuart and Margaret L. Forbes Foundation of Polk County, provides crucial support by covering substitute teacher costs and offering $250 for classroom use. The scholarship is named in honor of Susan S. McHugh, a former superintendent of Polk County Schools and a lifelong educator whose legacy continues to inspire excellence in education.
Uhrich was recently recognized at the NCCAT Cullowhee campus during the “Launch-Explore-Discuss: Task-Based Learning in the Elementary Math Classroom” program.
The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) is dedicated to advancing teaching as an art and a profession. NCCAT provides professional development opportunities to help teachers grow in knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm to benefit their students.
