Tanner Owens, a sophomore at Landrum High School, has been training at Revolution Mixed Martial Arts in Inman for approximately four years and recently won the title of GAMMA 2024 Youth National Champion in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Owens will now compete for the World Title in his bracket in Jakarta, Indonesia this December.

“I look forward to the opportunity of representing Team USA and experiencing different types of fighters,” said Owens on Thursday. “I also really look forward to bringing home the belt.”

Owens is selling tee shirts to raise funds and looking for sponsors to help him achieve his dreams. Three tiers of sponsorship are available for those interested in supporting Owens.

A bronze tier sponsorship costs $150 and offers a business name or logo on the shirt, social media attention and one shirt. A silver tier sponsorship costs $300 and offers a business name or logo on the shirt, social media attention and two shirts. A gold tier sponsorship costs $500 and offers a business name or logo on the shirt and warm up shorts, social media attention and three shirts. Owens will be wearing the apparel while warming up at the World Championship.

A GoFundMe page is also available to support Owens as he prepares to compete in the championship.

“Tanner’s brothers played baseball so this is different for me because I have always been a baseball mom,” said Owens’ mother, Sonya. “I was very hesitant at first but after seeing him excel at this sport it brought me and his father joy to watch him.”

Owens will be accompanied by his family and coach, Jimmy Fowler, while competing in Indonesia.
