Read these books before they hit the screen!
It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
This romance novel is about a woman with a too-good-to-be-true romance who can’t stop thinking about her first love. The film adaptation starring Blake Lively as Lily Bloom hits theaters this weekend!
Bad Monkey by Carl Hiaasen
A wickedly funny, fiercely pointed tale in which the greedy, the corrupt, and the degraders of pristine land in Florida–now, in the Bahamas too–get their comeuppance in mordantly ingenious, diabolically entertaining fashion. The television series starring Vince Vaughn premieres on Apple TV+ on August 14.
The Supremes at Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat by Edward Kelsey Moore
The title diner in Plainview, Indiana, is a home away from home for Odette, Clarice, and Barbara Jean. Dubbed “The Supremes” by high school pals in the tumultuous 1960s, they’ve weathered life’s storms for over four decades and counseled one another through marriage and children, happiness, and the blues. The movie starring Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Sanaa Lathan, and Uzo Aduba will drop on Hulu on August 23rd.
The Perfect Couple by Elin Hilderbrand
A novel about the many ways family can fill our lives with love… If they don’t kill us first. Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, and Dakota Fanning will star in the Netflix mystery drama show, which premieres on September 5th.
Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
This book series is set in a future dystopian world in which everyone is considered an “ugly,” but then turned “pretty” by extreme cosmetic surgery when they reach the age of 16. The Netflix movie starring Joey King as Tally Youngblood comes out on September 13th.
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson
The Herdmans are six siblings who have a reputation for being the worst kids in the world. However, when they take over the local church pageant during the holidays, they just might teach a shocked community the true meaning of Christmas. The new film adaptation is coming to a theater near you on November 8th.
Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire
When Dorothy triumphed over the Wicked Witch of the West in L. Frank Baum’s classic tale, we heard only her side of the story. But what about her arch-nemesis, the mysterious witch? Where did she come from? How did she become so wicked? And what is the true nature of evil? You may have heard of or seen the Broadway musical based on this book, but Wicked is coming to the big screen on November 22nd, starring Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Galinda.
